| T-STEM Bikes At Art Festival By: Kensey Henderson College students work with school-aged kids on bikes that both art and science. This is the 4th year that Texas Tech students have teamed up with a Lubbock area school for an art bike project. Texas Tech are students involved with the T-STEM center, which is part of a State of Texas initiative designed to motivate and prepare more students from kindergarten to 12th grade for careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Robert Wallar the Communication Specialist for T-STEM Center said it helps the Tech Students and the young students learn together. Wallar says, “It takes something that they’ve dreamed up in their head and design from scratch, build it and put it together and see the finished result, and they’ve learned math and science concepts along the way.” Working together these students of all ages have created several unique bikes and to show them off over the weekend at the Lubbock’s Art Festival.
