| FBI Searching City Hall By: James Clark Even as News Radio posts this story to the Internet FBI agents are executing a search warrant of city hall. Update 3:04 pm. Update: City Attorney Anita Burgess issued a two line statement: The FBI served a search & seizure warrant earlier today for city records. The city will comply with the federal warrant. Related Story:Sealed Search Warrant News Radio 1420 has learned from more than one source that the FBI is executing a search warrant of city hall. One of our sources specifically asked us not to use his/her name but agreed to tell us that the search warrant pertains to the City of Lubbock health insurance plan. The city and local businessman Ted Parker have been embroiled in a very public, bitter fight for nearly two years. City Hall called the FBI on Mr. Parker who voluntarily gave up documents rather than be subjected to a Subpoena. This would have been about March of 2006. In the time since then, News Radio 1420 has learned that the FBI was asked to initiate a second investigation this time pertaining to accusations of bid rigging at City Hall. News Radio 1420 is withholding the names of the companies because they have not been charged and as of the time of this report they have not been named in any public record. One of our sources quotes City Attorney Anita Burgess as saying the search warrant being executed today at City Hall is “extensive”. Local TV stations are camped out in the parking lot of city hall in the hopes of getting video of FBI agents leaving the building with boxes of documents.
