| Gas Prices Continue Downward Spiral By: Dave Walker/MetroSource News Texas gas prices continue to drop Triple-A Texas spokesperson Sarah Schimmer says crude oil prices have fallen from more than 83-bucks a barrel last month to 75-dollars a barrel. She says gas prices are following the trend and have dropped over the past several weeks. Schimmer adds crude oil is almost half of what it was in July 2008 when oil reached an all time high of 147-dollars a barrel, with the Texas gas price average at nearly four-bucks a gallon. The statewide average this week fell five-cents to two-51 a gallon. Fort Worth motorists are paying seven-cents less this week at two-45, which is the lowest average in the state. El Paso motorists are paying the highest average at two-61, down a penny. Dallas drivers are paying two-47, down six-cents, while Houston motorists are paying two-48, which is a drop of five-cents this week. San Antonio drivers are paying two-50, down four-cents, while Austin motorists are also paying four-cents less at two-52 a gallon.
