Workforce Solutions Elected to Lational Board

By: News Release

Workforce Solutions South Plains CEO Martin Aguirre was re-elected to serve the Workforce Development Council Board of Trustees. Presently, over one-hundred members across the nation are appointed to represent the U.S. Conference of Mayor’s Workforce Development Council. Of these, only twenty-five are elected to serve the Board of Trustees.

The Workforce Development Council (WDC) was established in 1977 by the United Stated Department of Labor Employment and Training to:
1). Identify key issues in workforce development that affect cities and, 2). Assure the role of cities is paramount in all local, state and national workforce development activities.

“This re-election allows regional and state employers, business leaders and workforce and economic development representatives to have a strong voice at the nation’s capital concerning issues of national debate and legislation that affect employers, workers and job seekers. I am honored to have been selected by Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin to represent the City of Lubbock and the South Plains region as the U.S. Department of Labor continues to address and develop solutions to strengthen America’s labor force,” said Mr. Aguirre.
