| Emotional Moment in Search For Two Women By: James Clark A car spotted in a playa lake, helicopter reconnaissance, interested onlookers and one very worried husband of 20 years. Today is day seven since 61-year-old Peggy Sue Merimon and 51-year-old Louetta Kay Harrelson disappeared. These two Lubbock women were last seen at the Lubbock State School where they both work. They were last seen getting into the car of an older white man during the lunch hour on Wednesday. To borrow a phrase from CBS… They have vanished “without a trace.” Yesterday Lubbock police thought they had a lead. A car was found in the playa lake at Buddy Holly Park. Not only did police have it pulled out of the water, but they asked DPS to do an aerial search by helicopter. All the commotion interrupted the search already being done by friends and family of Peggy Sue Merimon’s. Her husband, Gerald Merrimon, says, “We searched strictly east or due east of the school several miles on foot just several of us, yesterday and Today. Yesterday We went, probably surrounded the whole Lubbock, probably anywhere between 40 and 50 people… y’know just different vehicles and going from trailer park to whatever just looking for a vehicle, or anything.” No luck so far with the family’s own search. And then then Mr. Merimon got the news that the car dug out of the lake turned out to be a rabbit trail. We asked Merimon, what’s next. He says, “Pray and keep looking and hoping. I mean, I don’t know what else to do.” The Merimon’s should have been celebrating their anniversary this past weekend. We have pictures of both missing women, Merimon and Harrelson, plus a composite sketch of the man last seen with them.
