| Sunday Search for Missing Lubbock Women By: Dave Walker Volunteers bring Horses, ATV's Dogs and Determination One hundred plus volunteers gathered in the Buddy Holly Recreation Area (North University) this Sunday morning, all looking for clues in the disappearance of 61-year-old Peggy Sue Merimon and her coworker 51-year-old Louetta Kay Harrelson. The two State School employees have been missing for eleven days now. Police still say they have no evidence of a crime. In fact they have very little evidence at all. The searchers took to the area on foot, as well as ATV’s and horseback. An emergence rescue dogs team from Amarillo volunteered their services as well. “It’s gratifying to know that so many people care, willing to help out on Sunday morning” said Natasha Davis, daughter of Peggy Merimon. “I know some people think this is a Thelma and Louise case, that they just ran off. We hope that’s true. But I know that’s not the case. My Mother wouldn’t just take off.” Davis went on to say “ We haven’t had a call not a hang up… nothing.” Police have questioned a person of interest but have said nothing about their interview with a man who looks something like the composite drawing of the man they two missing women were last seen with. The volunteers were divided up in teams and given sections of the part to search. A Lubbock Police Officer was on hand in case any thing that might look lie evidence was found. Both Families have offered $25,000 rewards. The crime line money brings the total to $51,000. Story Posted: Sun Aug 20 08:58:41 CDT 2006 Created: Sun Aug 20 08:59:35 CDT 2006 BACK TO HOME/NEWS |
